The Idea
The daily puzzle format — play once, come back tomorrow — is one of the few things that's worked for driving habitual web engagement. Wordle proved it.
Simple Games applies that format to Irish language and culture: vocabulary, history, geography, civics, placenames. Games that are easy to play in a few minutes but hard to stop thinking about.

The Games
Foclaíocht — Irish-language word guessing. Six attempts to find the hidden word, letter by letter.
Sraith na hÉireann — Drop a pin on a map to identify Irish locations. Scored by distance.
Stair — Arrange historical events in chronological order. One topic, four events, one chance.
Saoránacht — Irish government and constitutional civics questions. Daily rotating topics.
Logainmneacha — Decode the Irish etymology of a placename. Language and geography combined.
Design Principles
Daily cadence, low commitment — Each game takes two to five minutes. The daily reset creates a reason to return without demanding a time investment.
No account required — Play immediately. Progress is saved locally. No sign-up friction.
Bilingual by default — Games work in both Irish and English. The Irish language is the subject, not a barrier.
Mobile-first — Designed for the phone screen first. Tap targets, readable text, clean layouts that work on a 375px viewport.
Technical Stack
Frontend — Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS. Server components where possible; client state kept minimal and local.
Data — Game content is flat-file JSON. No database overhead for content that changes once a day.
Hosting — Vercel. Zero cold starts, global CDN, instant deploys.
Outcome
Simple Games is live at simplegames.ie with five playable games and nine more in development.
The platform is early but the format is proven. The next phase is growing the game catalogue and building the subscriber base for daily notifications.
